Name
There are two name-related fields in your HashiCorp Certifications Exam Portal profile: “Full name” and “Preferred name”.
"Full name" validates your identity during the exam appointment
The “Full name” fields must exactly match your government-issued ID. These are the names that will be used to check in to your exam appointment. Review our Requirements page to ensure you meet the name/ID requirements to join an exam.
"Preferred name" goes on your badge
The “Preferred name” fields can match the name you go by day-to-day. These names will appear throughout your HashiCorp Certifications Exam Portal profile and on the badges and certificates you earn. For example: if you go by a nickname, if your ID contains an unused middle name, or if your ID is in different characters, you can use the “Preferred name” fields to ensure your public-facing credentials match how you prefer to be known.
To add or update your “Full name” and/or “Preferred name”, submit a ticket with the following information:
- Full Name:
- First/given name(s):
- Last/surname(s):
- Preferred Name (leave blank if your full name is the name you want on your credentials):
- First/given name(s):
- Last/surname(s):
- Reason for the distinction between “Preferred name” and “Full name”:
- Examples might include, “Danny is a nickname for Daniel/Danielle” or “I don’t want my middle name on my credentials”, or “My preferred name is in a different language than my full name”
Gender
The online proctor will be checking that your first and last name in this system matches the first and last name on your government-issued ID, and that the photo looks like you. If the name on your ID is incorrect or if showing ID will be problematic for any reason, submit a ticket at least 3 business days before your appointment (or as soon as possible) and we'll work with you to find the best possible solution.
