Account requirements
Your HashiCorp Cloud Engineer Certification Exam Portal is your single HashiCorp certifications account. You must have an account to take any HashiCorp certification exam.
Exam portals are attached to your GitHub account. You will be prompted to log in to GitHub when first creating your Exam Portal account.
- Use the same GitHub account to log in to the Exam Portal account each time. Using different accounts will create errors.
- Be sure you can sign in to your target GitHub account on the computer you will use for your appointment
Identification requirements
You will need one form of unexpired government-issued, photo ID to verify your identity before your appointment begins. You must have a physical ID card to enter your appointment. Digital IDs are not allowed.
All names on your ID must exactly match the names in your HashiCorp Certification Exam Portal account.
- Your account must have ALL names that are on your ID. If you have a middle name, or more than one given or surname, these must ALL be accounted for in your account.
- The names in your account must be in the same language and characters as the names on your ID.
If your ID has an expiration date, it must be unexpired on the day of your exam appointment.
Contact HashiCorp at least 3 business days before your appointment to make changes.
Identification requirements FAQS
How do I update the name on my account to match my ID?
Submit a ticket to requests name change. All requests must be submitted at least 3 business days before your appointment to ensure the changes are reflected on your appointment registration.
I don’t go by the names on my ID in day-to-day life. What should I do?
We can add a “preferred name” to your HashiCorp Certification Exam Portal that reflects the name you use day-to-day. The preferred name will show on your Exam Portal account and will be displayed on your credentials (badge and certificate) if you pass your exam. Submit a ticket to add a "preferred name".
If the names on your ID are incorrect or if showing ID will be problematic for any reason, contact certifications@hashicorp.com at least 3 business days before your appointment (or as soon as possible) and we'll be happy to accommodate you.
The names on my ID are not separated into first/given and last/surname fields. How do I enter my name correctly?
If all of the names on your ID are on one line, it does not matter which names go into which field in your account, as long as all names are accounted for.
For example, if the name on my ID appears as "Jane Mary Doe Smith", I can enter it as follows in my Exam Portal account:
First/given name(s):Jane Mary Doe
Last/surname(s): Smith
OR
First/given name(s): Jane Mary
Last/surname(s): Doe Smith
OR
First/given name(s): Jane
Last/surname(s): Mary Doe Smith
NOT
First/given name(s): Doe Smith Last/surname(s): Jane Mary
I only have one name on my ID, but the Exam Portal will not let me save with a blank field.
If you only have one name, please enter your name in the “first/given name” field, and leave two periods (..) in the last/surname field.
This will not impact your ability to join your appointment.
I have multiple GitHub accounts, which one do I use?
Be sure to track which account you are using to create your Exam Portal account.
Your GitHub account should be:
- Easily accessible from the machine you plan to use on exam day.
- An individual account that is yours only. You may not share between users. Sharing accounts will break the systems and you will not receive your badge.
We also recommend an account that you retain access to regardless of your employer.
You will need to use the same GitHub to log in to your Exam Portal each time. Using a different GitHub to log in will create a duplicate Exam Portal account, which can affect your ability to access your appointment, results, and badge.

Physical space requirements FAQS
I will be taking my exam in a room at home, do I really have to clear out furniture or decor?
To make your check in easy, remove as much clutter as you find reasonable. Your proctor will be looking for places recording devices could be hidden; the fewer of these present, the easier your check in will be. If your proctor has a question about a part of your room, they may ask to examine the area via the webcam to protect exam security
I wear a headscarf, bonnet, or other head covering. I cannot remove my headcovering for religious or personal reasons. How can I show that I do not have headphones in?
If you require a female proctor or other accommodation regarding your headwear, please submit an accommodation request. We will coordinate with you to find a suitable arrangement.
Scheduling requirements
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must do so at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellation with less than 48 hours notice or not appearing for your appointment without documentation may result in loss of your exam fees.
If you require an accommodation for your appointment, please submit a request at least 3 full business days in advance. We cannot guarantee accommodations requested with less notice will be added to your appointment.
