You will be asked to scan your exam environment with your camera prior to accessing your exam. You and the space you're in must meet the requirements below to be allowed into your appointment. Failure to adhere to reasonable requests from your proctor can result in forfeit of your appointment fees.
If you have questions or concerns about accommodations for your appointment, or any of these rules, please contact us.
Do you wear a bonnet, head scarf, or other personal head covering?
PSI's proctors require customers remove all non-religious head coverings. Even for religious garments, PSI's proctors require customers show their ears to prove no devices are present. This policy does not align with HashiCorp's values, so we have options for you:
- If exposing your ears to the public or a man is against your faith, contact us before you schedule an appointment and we'll arrange a private proctoring with you and one of our female members of staff. Our team is very small, but we will accommodate you as soon as we can.
- If you need to wear a bonnet or other hair covering for your appointment, you have our permission to say it is for religious purposes.
- We are pushing PSI to remove this unfair rule, but until it is removed, we support this small fib to give our customers equal access to our exams.
Room requirements
- No one else may be present in the room, and any doors must be closed.
- The proctor must be able to clearly see you and the room around you. Be sure your space is adequately lit.
- Your desk and work area must be clear.
- Clear your desk as much as possible.
- The room you are in must not have clutter that could reasonably hide a recording device, and you may be asked to move or tidy spaces to prove compliance.
- No phones, smartwatches, or other similar devices are allowed in the room.
- Headphones are not allowed at any point.
- Any electronics in the room must be unplugged and not operational during your entire appointment.
- Your proctor may request you show that items are unplugged.
- This includes additional monitors. Only one monitor may be used during your appointment.
- Background noise must be as limited as possible.
- Close windows if possible to reduce outside noise.
- Webcam, speakers, and microphone must remain on throughout the exam.
Behavior requirements
If any of these will be a problem for any documentable reason, please reach out to us via our accommodations request workflow.
- You may not leave your seat for any reason.
- Your head and shoulders must remain fully visible during your entire appointment.
- Your eyes must remain on the screen your exam is on.
- This can be tricky for folks who look around while thinking. We get it, this can be uncomfortable, but it is necessary to protect our exam program.
- If you do this, you will receive one warning before your appointment is terminated and your appointment fees forfeit.
- Talking or communicating outside of the exam environment is not allowed during your appointment.
- This means no cell phones, smart watches, or other communication devices.
- Talking, mouthing words, or reading questions aloud is not allowed.
- You may not use electronic devices (cell phone, smart watch, etc.) during the exam.
- One clear container with water is allowed.
- No food, other drinks, gum, or other consumables are allowed.
- You must be fully dressed.
- You are prohibited from reproducing, communicating or transmitting any test content in any form for any purpose. Doing so will result in the disqualification of examination results, and may lead to legal action.
- PSI requires all employees and exam takers to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Exhibiting abusive behavior towards a proctor via chat or other candidates will result in your exam being terminated and will be reported to HashiCorp.
